Joie de Vivre Hotels is opening its second property in Hawaii. Formerly known as the Seaside Hotel Waikiki, the redesigned property will be re-launched May 1st as Shoreline Hotel Waikiki after major renovations are completed this month.
Designed by San Francisco-based designer Anthony Laurino, the 135-room hotel will feature interiors inspired by 1970s architecture and modernism.

The Art Deco-inspired rooms⎯⎯which boast balconies with heady views⎯⎯are swathed in natural tones and materials accented with sea foam and tangerine. A collection of custom furnishings by Eric Brand that exude Hawaiian culture with bold 1970s shapes and local flowers and nature photography by local artist Michele McCarthy complete the décor.
“Shoreline brings a truly boutique and fresh hotel product to the Hawaiian market,” says Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels and Resorts, Joie de Vivre’s parent company. “The carefree spirit and warmth of the Joie de Vivre brand is reflected in the property, which marries daring design, individualized services, and amenities in one of the world’s most coveted beach destinations.”
