The Joule, Dallas has embarked on a $78 million expansion and renovation. Adam D. Tihany will oversee the year-long project, which calls for the addition of guestrooms, a spa, a second Charlie Palmer dining concept, and expanded event spaces. Growing by 2,500 square feet, the lobby promises an “all-hours” vibe. The hotel’s art collection also will expand, most notably with historic mosaics from the original Mercantile National Bank Building. The restored works, which depict the basic elements of nature, range from only a few feet high to more than 20 feet and will be on display at the new VIP Corridor and ballroom pre-function space.
The renovation also will include 21 guestrooms, eight suites, and three penthouses, all of which showcase photography by Tihany’s son, Bram Tihany. Meanwhile, the hotel’s underground nightclub, PM Lounge, will be converted into an “adult playground” featuring a 600-square-foot screening room, a recording studio, and a bar/lounge finished with custom furnishings. In addition, a new 8,000-square-foot spa will boast rich woods, upholstered walls, six treatment rooms, an ice fountain, steam room, sauna, geothermal pool, and experience showers. Rounding out the project: 10,000 square feet of function space, new ballrooms and meeting and pre-function spaces, and a rooftop terrace and garden that can accommodate 500 people.
