Hospitality art provider Kalisher has launched Helen’s Glasses, a program that will collect used eyeglasses and send them to Ghana. Helen Kalisher, executive vice president and creative director at Kalisher, created an earlier version of the program years ago when she placed collection boxes around her adopted hometown of Chapel Hill, N.C. “We collected hundreds of glasses in a relatively short period of time,” she says.
According to the Helen’s Glasses website, there is one eye doctor for every 1 million people in sub-Saharan Africa. The company plans to send empty donation boxes to a range of hospitality design firms, purchasing companies, and brands.
