Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has plans to debut in the Caribbean with the development of a 263-room hotel in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Opening in 2016, the property will be Grand Cayman’s first design driven, boutique-style hotel and the first new development on Seven Mile Beach in a decade.
With a project team including Miami-based SB Architects and interiors designed by Hollywood-based Powerstrip Studio and New York-based MARKZEFF, the new hotel will offer five restaurants and lounges, a cascading oceanfront pool, indoor and outdoor meeting and function space, and a spa. The property will also include 56 residences and six beachfront bungalows following a rustic yet polished design in line with the upscale, casual nature of the island.
In addition to the coming Grand Cayman property, Kimpton has recently announced plans for new hotels in Palm Springs, California, and Savannah, Georgia.
“Expanding into the Caribbean was an easy decision for us because of our already strong presence in the major feeder markets such as South Florida, New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, and Dallas,” says Mike Depatie, Kimpton’s CEO. “Grand Cayman, with its pristine beaches, world famous diving, and diverse, sophisticated melting pot of cultures, made this particular island an especially good fit for a debut of the Kimpton experience in the Caribbean.”
