The city of Pasadena, California and Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants has signed a 120-day exclusive negotiation agreement (ENA) regarding the rehabilitation of a historic Julia Morgan-designed building near city hall.
In restoring the building, the city is exploring a potential partnership with Kimpton to build a 150-room boutique hotel within the building. In April 2012, Pasadena acquired the location⎯⎯which was the original home of the local YWCA. The property is also designated as a historic monument by the city, as Morgan was California’s first licensed female architect.
Officials for Kimpton and the city will be meeting during the next few months to work on a lease agreement that would breathe new life into the building.
