King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel in Hawaii has undergone a $35 million renovation and rebranded as a Courtyard by Marriott. Guestrooms reflect Big Island themes-the carpeting represents the flow of lava fields, the tile is the soft white and beige of the coral sand, the upholstery showcases the red and brown hues of locally grown coffee, green accents indicative of the fern forest, and light and dark wood furnishings are accented with the elaborate designs of Polynesian tattoos. Additional refurbished amenities include 9,000 square feet of function space, the new Honu’s Restaurant, and poolside dining at the Billfish Bar.
