Marrakech’s iconic La Mamounia has reopened following an extensive renovation led by interior designer Jacques Garcia. The site maintains its distinctly Arabian architecture while introducing a series of original features. For instance, fragrance expert Olivia Giacobetti produced signature scents for La Mamounia, drawing inspiration from local flavors and ingredients, such as fresh dates. Parisian celebrity coiffeur Jean Michel Faretra brings his creativity and skills to a new salon, while Essences du Maroc has created a skin-care line exclusive to the hotel.

The hotel’s six restaurants offer a range of Italian, French, Moroccan, and Mediterranean fare. Le Bar Churchill—named after Winston Churchill, who often set up winter quarters at La Mamounia—evokes a speakeasy with its original wooden structure of the bar and murals and images of famous musicians. The Majorelle Gallery houses an original mural painting on the ceiling by artist Jacques Majorelle, who created the world-famous Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, which was later acquired by Yves Sant-Laurent. The painting has been restored and maintained throughout the property’s renovation.
