More than 80 leading industry professionals will speak at 30 conference sessions during the 2014 Hospitality Design Exposition & Conference (HD Expo). The industry’s largest and most preeminent tradeshow will take place May 14-16th at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. Here are a few not-to-miss and newly added sessions.
Start off the show with a fresh outlook Wednesday morning, May 14th at 9 a.m. The NEWH Annual Expo Breakfast: the New Entrepreneurs will unveil the secrets of success from Hospitality Design’s current and past Wave of the Future honorees. Led by Alessandro Munge, principal of Munge Leung; Amy Hulbert, managing director of design for Best Western International; and Andy Masi, partner for the Light Group, the breakfast will showcase the best and brightest upcoming designers. Symmons will also present its $4,000 NEWH Symmons Smart Scholarship to a winning student.
On Thursday, May 15th at 3 p.m., a panel of development and investment experts will lead the Money Panel. This panel will discuss how they finance a property to why they decide to buy or sell, and how to provide an effective support system as a consultant. Barry Nidiffer, executive vice president of development management for Chartres Lodging Group; Craig Amos, executive vice president of capital investments for Apple REIT Companies; and Steven Angelier, executive vice president and general manager of Benjamin West will lead the talk.
Story and Spectacle: The Lab at Rockwell Group brings together Melissa Hoffman and Lauren Adams from the LAB at Rockwell Group and Anthony Fioravanti of Related Urban for an insider’s glimpse into a challenging and fulfilling project. Having completed a one million-square-foot mixed-use development in Abu Dhabi, the team shares creative strategies they developed to differentiate the project through hospitality, technology, and food and beverage outlets. This session will take place Thursday, May 15th at 11 a.m.
