Martin Brudnizki Design Studio has completed work on 34, a new restaurant in the Mayfair area of central London. In his design, Brudnizki merged the traditional masculine feel of a steakhouse with the neighborhood’s glamour. “Whenever I embark on a new project, I always consider first the context, the character of the city and the street, as well as the expectations of the client,” he says. “In the case of 34, I knew I wanted to update and refine the rustic aesthetics traditionally associated with grill fare, and so I drew inspiration from the enduring style of early 20th-century interiors, introducing vintage Edwardian and Deco details befitting the reserved glamour of the neighborhood.”

Custom handmade designs permeate the space. The main dining area boasts rich terracotta leather and mahogany wood chairs and banquettes, a floor design featuring reclaimed boards of oak and rosewood, and white crackle-glazed timber walls. Meanwhile, the bar area showcases grained millwork and sparkling glass details. Lighting elements, from the antiqued copper and prism glass of the bulkhead fixtures to the silverleaf-infused hand-blown glass of the wall sconces, also play an important role in the design.
