Surrounded by lush green rainforest, the Mashpi Lodge in Ecuador is putting on the final touches before its April 2012 debut. The resort, perched more than 3,000 feet above sea level, is designed to blend with its surroundings. Its minimalist décor mixes warm earth tones and clean lines in 44 guestrooms and suites. Guests also have access to relaxing lounges with expansive picture windows, a reading room, a spa that use local ingredients, and a restaurant and bar. Built with sustainable practices, the resort will employ hydroelectric power in the near future.
