Maya Romanoff has received MADE: In America’s 2013 William Thornton Award for Excellence in Craftsmanship. The BEST: Made In America and Build it in America Awards identify, honor, and showcase leading American manufacturers and their products.

“It has always been my mission to stay connected to our artisans who create in our studio and in our mills; to the designers who create environments; and to the material itself,” says Romanoff. “There is a soulfulness that comes from using our own hands to coax out the beauty of the material from its core essence, and that feeling comes through in the crafted products. Today we are making thousands of yards at a time instead of ten, but always with that same feeling of spontaneity and joy. People can feel it in how the walls embrace them.”
The William Thornton Award is presented to an artisan in recognition of singular achievement. The award focuses national attention on the economic and social value of a strong, sustained, and growing American manufacturing base and the need to support and strengthen American business.
