The under-construction Mining Exchange hotel in Colorado Springs will join the Wyndham Grand collection when it opens next spring. The luxury property, spread across four historic buildings dating from the early 20th century, will feature design work from the hotel’s owner, Perry R. Sanders, Jr., along with locally based Bobby Hill Designs.
To reflect their original grandeur, the four buildings are being renovated, including the Mining Exchange building’s unique, solid granite exterior perimeter walls, which have been uncovered and exposed inside and out. The Mining Exchange building will serve as the main building, housing 57 of the hotel’s 119 guestrooms. Accommodations include two presidential, 12 grand, and 35 junior suites, appointed with handcrafted furnishings, flatscreen televisions, 12-foot ceilings, travertine and granite floors, and matching custom granite countertops throughout the room and bathroom.
Serving as the focal point of the lobby is an ornate walk-in vault. Guests will also have access to two restaurants, X300 and Il Postino; a business center; fitness facilities featuring a yoga and Pilates area, as well as a steam room and hot tub; a spa where large vaults serve as treatment rooms; and 20,000 square feet of function space in the Art Deco-style Municipal Utilities Building
