InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa in the French Polynesia has completed its multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion. The over-water bungalows now include a sea-level platform and ladder to improve access to the water, as well as outdoor showers and terrace extensions that feature entertaining space and a solarium with lounge chairs. In addition, the 17 garden bungalows now have private plunge pools. The resort also added two new infinity pools overlooking the South Pacific and a poolside restaurant and bar.
Sustainability also plays a role at the resort, which recently earned EarthCheck Silver Certification, a program that validates carbon claims and environmental practices. For instance, the resort houses the Moorea Dolphin Center, which donates a substantial portion of its proceeds to marine wildlife research and research grants, and the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center, serving as a hospital to ill and injured turtles from surrounding islands.
