Developers are putting on the final touches of OCT Bay, a city-within-a-city in Shenzhen, China. The 309-acre project takes mixed-use developments to the next level, with features such as public plazas, waterfront shopping complex, a convention center, restaurants, museum, wetland and nature preserve. A spa center and resort-style residential community also are underway.
The master planning team included architecture firm LaGuarda Low, which designed the majority of the buildings and structures in OCT Bay, as well as SWA Group, which provided site design for the project, including extensive collaboration on creating the eco-park and wetland habitat. In addition, Zhu Pei is the architect of the cloud-shaped museum in the north area and also the Exhibition Center in the east area. Meanwhile, Richard Meier is the architect of the OCT China Club, a private facility for commercial services, ecological sightseeing, fitness and relaxation.
