The New York Helmsley and all of its 1980s design glory will be a thing of the past as it begins its $65 million transition into a Westin. The hotel’s 774 guestrooms, which each boast more than 300 square feet, will receive a floor-to-ceiling upgrade that utilizes eco-friendly materials such as energy-conserving LED and CFL lights, low-flow plumbing features, recyclable carpet pads, low-VOC finishes for casegoods, and GreenGuard-certified solar shades.
In addition, the hotel will feature more than 15,000 square feet of renovated meeting and event space featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and 12-foot ceilings that provide great New York City views. The hotel’s entire façade also will undergo a makeover, and the lobby bar/restaurant will be expanded.
