NEWH will host the biennial Scholar’s Dinner and Award of Excellence celebration on January 15th at the Universal Orlando Resort during the NEWH Leadership Conference. David Mahood of Olive Hospitality Consulting and Lynda P. Sullivan of Sullivan Hospitality Marketing Associates will each receive NEWH’s prestigious Award of Excellence. The biennial award honors a man and a woman who has contributed extraordinary time and effort to NEWH; has a minimum of 10 years experience in the hospitality industry; has held a local chapter or international board position; and has mentored four people in the industry, at least two of whom are women.
The night will also honor past student scholarship winners (both on the chapter and international level), allowing them to share their personal tales of how NEWH has benefited them. “Scholarship and education is the primary mission of NEWH and meeting the students is very rewarding for our membership who works very hard to raise funds for scholarships,” explains NEWH’s executive director Shelia Lohmiller.
As a preface to the evening, Thierry Coup, vice president creative development, Universal Creative, will share a presentation of “The Making of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter” on Saturday afternoon at the NEWH Leadership Conference. He will discuss the design development, fabrication, and installation of Universal’s newest attraction, as well as the collaboration between author JK Rowling, Warner Brothers, and Universal Studios to bring the vision to life. Only registered conference attendees can sit in on this exclusive session.
Tickets to the Scholar’s Dinner are $69 for NEWH members and $89 for non-NEWH members. (Ticket price includes park entrance as well as dinner.) Go to new.newh.org/leadership-conference/scholars-dinner or contact Jena Seibel at [email protected] to purchase.
