Montage Beverly Hills has unveiled the design details of its Suite 100, which has undergone renovations as part of Beverly Hills’ 2014 Centennial celebration. In recognition of the event, five of the city’s luxury hotels are redecorating one of their suites to reflect a particular decade.
Suite 100 at Montage Beverly Hills captures the spirit of 1940s film noir. Led by locally based designer Nina Petronzio, the design boasts vintage details such as a historic phonograph, big band vinyl records, and a collection of 1940s literature, games, movies, music, whimsical libations, and edibles.
“I wanted to create something more unexpected than a typical Hollywood glamour theme,” says Petronzio. “Film noir provides a feeling and sensibility that exudes mystique, allure, and elegance-all prominent in the classic Hollywood crime dramas.”
A limited edition furniture collection inspired by the era fills the room, complemented by classic fabric patterns. In addition, a diverse collection of gallery-level artwork was specifically chosen to accompany the fine wall treatments, furnishings, and fabric selections. The collection includes a revolving display of 1940s-inspired photography, giclée, and original paint on canvas throughout the year. Key pieces being displayed in the suite are a John Vassosâ€â€œdesigned phonograph, a pristine Underwood Noiseless Typewriter, and a host of historic luxury antiques and collectibles.
“Although the authenticity of the furnishings is important,” adds Petronzio, “it’s as important to me that the rooms have luxury lifestyle elements of that era.”
