The Oakland Convention Center has begun an $8 million makeover that will result in cosmetic, technological, and sustainability upgrades. Inspired by the city’s jazz and blues history, the 64,000-square-foot facility will celebrate the area’s musical history through photography displays and murals. A palette of red, gold, and beige will mimic the scheme used in the makeover of the attached Oakland Marriott City Center.
As part of significant technological upgrades, the convention center will implement a programmable energy management system that has the ability to schedule time-controlled energy use of temperature and lighting. The facility will seek LEED Silver certification.
