Orient-Express is wrapping up its restoration of the historic El Encanto hotel in Santa Barbara, California, with an opening scheduled for March. The early 20th-century property will recapture the romance and glamour that made it a preferred getaway of Hollywood’s elite.

Located on seven acres of landscaped gardens with a trellised-lined arbor and lily pond, El Encanto showcases commanding views of the Pacific Ocean from its hilltop perch. The secluded retreat will feature 92 California-style bungalows, many outfitted with fireplaces and private patios or gardens. The Hummingbird Suite boats two private patios, an outdoor shower, and soothing water feature.

F&B options include the Dining Room; the Terrace for outdoor dining on warm evenings; the Wine Room, a private enclave located within the Dining Room; the Lounge, ideal for afternoon tea and light bites; and the Bar. El Encanto will keep its own cow called Ellie. Housed on a farm in central California, Ellie’s milk will be used for specialty cheese served by the restaurant.

For leisure, guests have access to a spa with seven treatment rooms, an outdoor infinity edge pool, and a fitness center located alongside a private salon for core fitness, yoga, and Pilates. Additional amenities include a window-lined ballroom with private terrace and an array of outdoor event venues.
