The Palazzo Manfredi in Rome has unveiled the Ludus Magnus suite. Built between 81-96 AD by Emperor Domitian, the Ludus Magnus⎯⎯the room’s inspiration as it overlooks its ruins⎯⎯was ancient Rome’s largest and most prestigious gladiator training school.
Architect Giorgia Dennerlein of Rome-based Lotodesign oversaw the build out of the 645-square-foot suite. Warm hues of gold and bronze are incorporated throughout the room to recall Roman elegance; modern touches are found in the wallpaper and lighting designs; and furnishings include two vintage velvet armchairs, gold and silver checkered ottomans, and a storage unit.
The palatial bathroom also pays tribute to ancient Rome with marble and glass materials modeled after the Roman baths, and guests get a bird’s-eye view of the Coliseum in the large glass-enclosed shower.
