Hotels in the Coachella Valley in the Southern California desert are getting refreshed as the economy improves, according to the Desert Sun. Among the properties and their upgrades:
Hilton Palm Springs Resort: A $10 million-plus renovation to its 260 guestrooms, the lobby, meeting space, and Terrace Restaurant
The Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells: Guestrooms receiving new carpeting, furniture, paint, lamps, desks and iPod docking stations
The Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells: A $2 million refresh of guestrooms, suites, and villas boasting deep chocolate and honey-colored carpeting, along with cream-toned wallcoverings
JW Marriott Desert Springs and Spa in Palm Desert: $25 million in F&B upgrades preceded by a $30 million renovation
Alcazar in Palm Springs: A 34-key midcentury-modern boutique hotel remodeled from the former Pepper Tree Inn
Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs: A revamp of smaller meeting rooms and pool deck following a 2009 renovation; also renovated the HooDoo Patio Restaurant and Bar in April
Hyatt Grand Champions Resort Villas and Spa in Indian Wells: Upgrades to 26 penthouse suites and lobby bar with plans for a new retail space and coffee area
Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage: Transforming restaurant and golf course
Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert: A new clubhouse addition
La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA West: Changes to the spa and the Adobe Grill; new retail outlets
Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage: Revamping the spa and guestrooms, adding and renovating suites, improving ballrooms and lobby bar, and incorporating more outdoor seating with firepits at its plaza
New hotels in the pipeline include Candlewood Suites, Holiday Inn, and Rosewood Hotel in Palm Desert; potential Hard Rock Hotel and Mondrian projects in Palm Springs are also on the boards.
