Hyatt and Extell Development Corporation have unveiled plans for Park Hyatt New York, slated to arrive in 2012. Architect Christian de Portzamparc and design firm Yabu Pushelberg have been tasked with creating an understated elegance. The hotel, located at 157 West 57th Street between Avenue of the Americas and Seventh Avenue across from Carnegie Hall, calls for a distinctive bar and restaurant, 5,000 square feet of retail space, a grand ballroom, spa, fitness center, and indoor swimming pool in a three-story aerie at the top of the property, which also calls for 135 Thomas Juul-Hansen-designed luxury condos.
