Sporting four vintage skee-ball machines, Pat’s Tap Skee-Club and Gastro Pub has opened in Minneapolis. A variety of artists and designers contributed to the neighborhood bar’s funky look, including Kickstand Press, makers of the reproduction wallpaper; Forrest Wozniak, a sign and mural painter; 3Ring Scenic; and Studio 2030 for interior design.
The bar is designed to LEED standards, with sustainable features such as:
- A roof that sports a 10kwH solar array
- Waterless urinal to reduce annual water consumption by approximately 40,000 gallons per year
- Overall water use, including the process water, to be reduced by more than 60 percent
- Through the use of native plants, porous paving, rainwater harvesting, and rain gardens, the venue anticipate that 97 percent of the average annual site area’s total suspended solids and more than 40 percent of the average annual site area’s total phosphorus will be kept out of the city storm water system
- More than 90 percent of equipment is Energy Star rated
- More than 40 percent of the existing building reused
- More than 80 percent of construction debris diverted from the landfill
- Material reuse such as doors, skee-ball, chairs, kitchen equipment, and tile
- Use of mateirals with recycled content and made within 500 miles of the bar
- Most wood is FSC certified
- Use of CO2 detectors to maximize good indoor air quality
- Clean jobsite all the way through the project to protect the health of the workers and prevent dust and debris from getting into ductwork
- All adhesives, sealants, paints, sealers, coatings, floor systems, ceiling systems, and substrate comprising low-emitting materials
