Phil Ruffin, owner of Treasure Island and co-owner of Trump International Tower, Las Vegas, has written a column for the Las Vegas Sun outlining his predictions for Las Vegas hotels. Among his thoughts:
- By 2020, all room inventory will be absorbed
- Fontainebleau and Echelon will be operational
- A major resort will occupy 40 acres at Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard
- Room rates will be substantially higher in 10 years
- International traffic to Las Vegas will grow
- Casino floors will be redesigned three or four times in the next decade
- Downtown Las Vegas will be a "downscale operation"
- Local market will continue to be strong
