The Plaza in downtown Las Vegas is closing its 1,037-room hotel tower for renovations, which are expected to take about a year, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The casino is also slated to be redesigned, but the restaurant and showroom will remain open. Following the refurbishment, the property will be known as Union Plaza.
The renovation is the second big project on Fremont Street in the last year. In November, the Golden Nugget opened a 500-room hotel tower expansion.
