Yotel came onto the travel scene three years ago with the introduction of "pods" in airports, where travelers could spend up to four hours recharging during layovers. Now, the company is heading to New York City with plans for a 669-room full hotel in Times Square, scheduled to debut in 2011. The property, designed by Rockwell Group and Softroom Architects of London, will feature cozy 170-square-foot guestrooms outfitted with luxury bedding, monsoon rain showers, purple mood lighting, and a "techno wall" with flatscreen TV, along with a restaurant, bar, business lounge, the largest terrace in the city, and meeting space. The hotel is part of Related Company’s 60-story LEED silver complex, which will include residential units and the Signature Theatre designed by Frank Gehry.
