Carlson and general contractor Mortenson have broken ground on the Radisson Blu Hotel at Mall of America near Minneapolis, the first lodging to connect directly to the mall. Designed by project architect ESG, the hotel features a drive-up entry on the ground floor on lobby on the mall’s second floor. The 500 custom-designed guestrooms will feature three distinctive Radisson room styles: Mansion House, Naturally Cool, and Urban. Other facilities include a full-service spa, fitness center, indoor pool, concierge lounge and floor, and 22,500 square feet of meeting and event space. In addition, the hotel will offer FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, an evolution of the concept at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Minneapolis.
The hotel is expected to open in March 2013.
