Raffles Hotels & Resorts is set to debut the Raffles Hainan in Hainan Island, China. Opening in September, the hotel marks the group’s second property in China and 10th hotel in its collection.
Along with the Raffles Resort, Clearwater Bay encompasses two championship golf courses, private residences, luxury retail, a cinema complex, yacht clubs, and a 780-berth marina for sailing and water sports, as well as 39,370 feet of coastline.
Raffles Hainan will boast a beachfront location with 299 rooms⎯⎯starting at 861 square feet⎯⎯and 32 villas, all with private balconies and scenic views of the ocean or golf course. A spa, seven restaurants and bars, and private event spaces will sit alongside Hainan’s homage to the Long Bar at Raffles Singapore⎯⎯in tribute to the Hainanese bartender who created the Singapore Sling.
Designed by locally-based LTW Designworks in conjunction with Honolulu-based architects WATG, the rooms and suites will feature a contemporary design combined with locally inspired accents. Bringing a sense of peace to the interiors, artisan wood furnishings, colorful fabrics, and artworks will recall the traditional hill tribes in Hainan.
Raffles Hainan showcases more than 1,000 works of art throughout the resort. Curated by Willow Gallery from Hong Kong, these include specially commissioned works from contemporary Chinese artists, sculptures, tribal ornaments, and multimedia art.
“Drawing on the timeless quality of the flagship Raffles Singapore, Raffles Hainan continues our commitment to bringing 125 years of heritage and experience in bespoke luxury service to our strategic expansion,” says Peter French, president of Raffles Hotels & Resorts.
