The Impala Hotel in Miami Beach has completed a redesign that channels the beach- and cliff-side hotels found along Italy’s Amalfi Coast. The property’s owners, Ange and Anthony Santini, hired designer Barrie Livingstone to create a sanctuary reflective of Italy’s high fashion and its location on the Mediterranean coast.
Livingstone implemented a palette of yellow, gold, orange, and pale blue hues. The hotel’s hidden entryway leads guests to a tranquil coral rock courtyard featuring a fountain that the designer modeled after a grotto he admired in Capri. In the lobby, a mural of Empress Theodora designed by fashion icon Christian LaCroix (pictured) hangs from the wall, while an Italian mosaic of the sun (originally intended for the Versace Mansion) covers the floor.
The Impala’s 17 guestrooms enchant with carved fruitwood and upholstered Florentine-style headboards, wrought iron and coral rock vanities, brass, Murano glass fixtures, and a suite with cathedral ceilings and balcony. Eco-friendly treatments include eucalyptus thread, hypoallergenic bedding, water-conserving fixtures, and non-chemical paints and wallcoverings.
