On May 3, the Stafford London by Kempinski will unveil its $10 million refurbishment, led by locally based RPW Design. The firm opened up the reception, lounge, and restaurant areas to flow into one another, creating a feeling that’s reminiscent of stepping into a sophisticated townhouse. A sense of cohesiveness is developed via neutral backdrops of grays and creams; splashes of bold purple and red hues; rich, textured fabrics; natural woods; and new parquet and stone floors.
Meanwhile, the Lyttelton restaurant shifts from traditional fine dining to a casually elegant atmosphere, accomplished through an ivory and gray color palette, floral fabrics, artwork, and a custom-crafted chandelier. A large custom-crafted wooden buffet table will present diners with a changing display of dishes. Similar décor is found in the lounge, adorned with elegant chairs, sofas, and a fireplace.
Twenty-four of the hotel’s guestrooms are also undergoing a renovation that evokes a lighter atmosphere, thanks to new carpeting, furnishings, entertainment systems, and bathrooms. Additionally, corridors will be brightened up through new wallpaper, carpet, and curtains.
