Le Meurice in Paris has unveiled its redesigned presidential suites and Dali apartment. Designer Charles Jouffre takes a modern approach yet maintains the design preferred by artist Salvador Dali, who spent significant time at the hotel throughout the 1960s to the ’80s. Adorned in rich red or the hotel’s signature green, the five suites feature Versailles parquet floors covered with wool and silk rugs from Galerie Saint-Simon; marble fireplaces; crystal chandeliers; 19th-century paintings; and period furniture, including conserved and restored pieces from Louis XVI cabinets to newly re-gilded cabriolet chairs.
Located in one of the suites is the Dali apartment, named for its famous resident. Jouffre preserved the unit, making minimal upgrades such as furniture, window treatments, moldings accented with muted goal, and sumptuous fabrics.
