The Clark County Commission has signed off on permits to renovate the shuttered Sahara, according to a report in the Las Vegas Sun. The property’s owners, SBE Entertainment Stockbridge Real Estate Funds, hired Gensler Architects and Penta Building Group to evaluate options for the site. Plans call for a revamped casino floor, 1,622 guestrooms, an outdoor dining area, a nearly 2,400-square-foot beer garden, multiple restaurants, an expansive nightclub, a new pool deck area, and 41,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. One thing that won’t be part of the hotel-casino? The roller coaster, which will be demolished.
