Restoration Hardware Holdings, Inc. (RH) has launched RH Contemporary Art. Designed to build recognition of international artists, RH Contemporary Art will debut a commercial art gallery in New York this fall.

RH Contemporary Art will directly commission works⎯⎯as well as debut an online platform with videos of studio visits, in-depth interviews, and critical writings⎯⎯to increase visibility for each artist and their practice.

Autonomy* by rAndom International⎯⎯the inaugural exhibition hosted in RH Contemporary Art⎯⎯will be the first view of the studio’s research shown in the U.S. The exhibition will also provide context and background for the premiere of Rain Room at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Other works include Future Self (2012), Study For A Mirror (2009) and Self Portrait (2010). Both Audience (2008) and Fly (2011) will show differing perspectives on simulation, motion, and emotion. Cognition and the experience of the body in space are explored in Study Of You (2011).
“We are honored that MoMA has chosen to exhibit Rain Room as part of EXPO 1: New York, and thrilled that this inspiring work imagined and created by rAndom International will be shared with the world,” says Gary Friedman, chairman emeritus, creator and curator of RH. “For all of us at RH and RH Contemporary Art, this work has special meaning. It is a reflection of creative courage, trust and a belief that all of us have the ability to affect any environment we choose to step into.”
