The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, in Amelia Island, Florida, has completed construction on a $22 million ballroom expansion, concluding a 14-year effort to increase the oceanfront resort’s footprint, it announced last week.
The expansion, which added 11,000 square feet of new meeting space, gives the property a total of 35,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
"This project was a critical component of our master plan to improve the guest experience, maintain relevance in an increasingly competitive marketplace, and provide greater value to our clients and our community," general manager Katharine Monahan says in a statement. "Despite the recent economic challenges faced by the travel industry, we are incredibly optimistic about the impact this development will have on the long-term success of our resort."
Called the Talbot Ballroom, the Ritz-Carlton’s newest expansion took 16 months to complete and makes the resort one of the largest conference hotels in the region.
