South Beach Group Hotels has opened its Riviera South Beach hotel within the historic Art Deco district of Miami Beach. The opening marks the 14th boutique hotel and the first 4-star property in the group’s portfolio.
Blending contemporary urban chic with Hollywood regency, Riviera South Beach houses 160 guestrooms and suites, some of which are equipped with chrome balconies overlooking the ocean.
Inspired by 20th-century interior designer Dorothy Draper, the one-bedroom Suites are apartment-like accommodations boasting lavish aesthetics and Art Deco flamboyance. Banksy was additionally commissioned to adorn the hotel’s tiling with abstract artwork.

Suites juxtapose gold-accented chiffon prints and black-and-white cowhide rugs with royal blue and gold striped walls, silk draperies, and hardwood floors. Each suite features a separate dining room and living area with wood and ivory tufted leather furniture.
Meanwhile, the balcony rooms have an urban-like metropolitan flair. Below rustic concrete ceilings, stonewashed grays and whites offset pops of yellow. The classic rooms have a contemporary ambience, which contrasts with its exterior⎯⎯a building that won the city’s 2013 Preservation and Architectural Award of Merit. A white leather bed frame and a leather love seat create a sitting area complete with an oriental-inspired elephant end table.

Two penthouse suites, averaging 700 square feet, offer one and two bedroom spaces. The two-bedroom penthouse suite is on a private floor with a rooftop garden and lounge furniture.
Moreno’s Cuba is the hotel’s Cuban-inspired eatery within the hotel. Created by the hotel’s owner, Nathan Lieberman, and the Cuban recording artist, Jorge Moreno, the restaurant evokes an authentic Havana-style café. The space utilizes imported Cuban floor tiles, rustic old-world woods, and tropical shrubbery for the Latin atmosphere.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of our premium brand of deluxe accommodations,” says Alan Lieberman, president and founder of South Beach Group Hotels. “Riviera South Beach Hotel offers a cocoon of secluded luxury in the heart of the historic Art Deco district, while still being conveniently located within walking distance of the beach, boutique shops, and nightlife.”
