Developer Robert A. McAlpine and architecture and design firm Rockwell Group will restore a series of historic structures in the Hudson River Valley city of Beacon. Four existing mill buildings on the nine-acre site will be transformed into a LEED-certified 58-room destination hotel, luxury spa, 80-seat restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor dining, and a 225-seat catering and event space overlooking Beacon Falls. The site’s former hydroelectric plant will also be restored to provide green energy to the property.
The new Roundhouse at Beacon Falls hotel will feature 38 rooms in two brick mill buildings on one side of the creek and an additional 20 rooms across the creek in a mill building at the east end of the city known as the Roundhouse. The mill building that sits on the top of Beacon Falls will become a stunning catering and event space, capable of hosting events of up to 225 people. This lofty historic brick and wood truss clerestory space will open up to a patio and beautifully landscaped garden area, complete with a large deck along the creek overlooking Beacon Falls.
The project’s opening is scheduled for spring 2012.
