Rosewood Mayakoba has reopened in Mexico’s Riviera Maya following a four-week, $1.6 million renovation. Architect and interior designer Jose Manuel Martinez Marquez oversaw the project, which included the addition of 18 suites, remodeled restaurants, and a redesigned and expanded fitness center. The lavish new suites feature paintings and artwork artwork by local artisans to reflect the destination’s heritage and a peaceful, soothing environment.
The four remodeled F&B venues capture elements of the local environment. At Casa del Lago, vibrant coral and subtle beige hues set the stage for relaxed dining, while the outdoor terrace, which sits atop the main pool, features a new lattice glass roof. The Agave Azul Sushi Bar & Tequila Library boasts a contemporary Mexican style thanks to authentic stone and wood fragments. Floor-to-ceiling glass paels open onto a deck overlooking the central lantern-lit lagoon. Backlit wooden library shelves display more than 120 bottles of tequila, while the sushi bar showcases granite and glass. La Cava, the resort’s private dining room, offers an 800-bottle wine cellar, and the casual Punta Bonita features an expanded deck, a beachside bar, and new brick pizza oven.
