The first international resort for Kimpton Hotels is set to open on Grand Cayman. Debuting in 2016, the 10-story resort is the island’s highest structure to date and marks the first development along the Seven Mile Beach in over a decade.

Miami-based SB Architects will design the $170-million hotel, which will include 262 guestrooms, 62 resort condominiums, and three beachfront bungalows. Behind a contemporary façade, the hotel will boast five restaurants, including a bar and rooftop restaurant.
As Kimpton Hotels’ first resort property, the resort will evoke a playful atmosphere. Landscape design by EDSA and interiors by Powerstrip Studios will help create this personality, while John Doak, an expert in the architecture and history of the Cayman Island, will also contribute to the design.
“Our goal is to craft a modern Caribbean aesthetic that sets the tone for future development across Grand Cayman,” says Scott Lee, president and principal of SB Architects. “As the designers of this milestone project, we are mindful of our responsibility to create an authentic design that responds to the site, light, views, and water, while setting an appropriate tone as the island looks to its future.”
