smith and firestone associates (sfa design) will renovate Loews Don CeSar Beach Resort’s two Penthouse suites. The redesign at the St. Pete Beach, Florida property follows 2011 renovations of the guestrooms and public spaces by the California–based firm and will be completed this spring.


Known as a popular celebrity retreat during the Jazz Age, the Penthouse suites will mix chic modern elements with old-world charm. The design will accentuate the character of the architectural elements found on site. In addition to natural elements and textures, warm neutral tones and pops of bright sea colors will evoke a sense of beach sophistication.
For a modern feel, hints of yellow, ocean teal, red, and fuchsia accent a soft mix of cream, white, and ivory fabrics. Whitewashed floors complement warm wood-toned furniture, which is reminiscent of driftwood. Final touches of cool beach textures, sea glass, and mirrored surfaces complete the beach-inspired suites.
