Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts plans to open the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard in London. Set to debut this summer, the hotel marks the brand’s first property in the United Kingdom.
Occupying levels 34 to 52 of the 95-story skyscraper, the hotel will offer 202 rooms and suites, four wine and dining venues, and three river-facing event rooms⎯⎯all designed by Genoa, Italy-based architect Renzo Piano. The 452-square-foot guestrooms will be among the largest in London.

Located on level 34, the hotel’s function space will comprise of the Thames ballroom, the London Bridge room, and the Tower Bridge room. A grand staircase⎯⎯connecting levels 34 and 35 and sitting at 410 feet above sea level⎯⎯provides a view of the city.
Dining options include Gourmet by Shangri-La, the hotel cake shop, and an artisan deli on the ground floor. The Shard 35 restaurant will serve locally inspired dishes made with local ingredients.
On level 52, the GÅŽNG bar’s design will be inspired by the mythical aspect of Cinnabara mineral historically used to create the red color on the walls of Chinese imperial palaces. The interior⎯⎯divided into several small chambers⎯⎯is also reminiscent of traditional boudoirs of the West.
“Shangri-La Hotel, at the Shard, London will be a dramatic introduction of our signature Asian hospitality and style to the United Kingdom,” says Greg Dogan, president and CEO of Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd. “International guests already familiar with Shangri-La touches will also enjoy panoramic views of London from all vantage points.”
