Shangri-La International Hotel Management has launched Kerry Hotels, its new 5-Star hotel brand, in China. The 31-story Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai offers 574 spacious guestrooms and suites featuring views of Century Park or the city; sleek, contemporary furnishings; custom-designed in-room consoles with high stools; and sliding wall panels that lead to separate bath and shower facilities. Seven floors are devoted to club accommodation, where guests have access to a butler, club concierge services, and the 7,200-square-foot Club Lounge.
The hotel’s F&B concepts are integrated into a three-in-one designer showcase developed by design consultancy Stickman Tribe. The COOK, which is the main a la carte restaurant with 11 live show kitchens and a gourmet deli, showcases a bold mix of traditional and modern materials and finishes, such as handwritten menus on rustic wooden blackboards, Corian marble countertops mixed with rustic crate-stamped timber drop ceilings, and custom-designed tiles.
The industrial-chic BREW offers an outdoor terrace, along with custom-designed three-story stainless steel vats used for brewing and storing signature beers. Framing the vats is a multi-tiered steel-and-glass chandelier over the center of the bar that doubles as a pint glass rack. Opening in April is the MEET, a steakhouse and specialty grill accented by a scarlet-hued vertebrae-inspired light fixture that stretches the expanse of the restaurant. While waiting for their dinner companions, guests can relax on pony hair and leather armchairs near a fireplace flanked by handcarved wooden bullhorns. Rounding out the hotel’s dining and entertainment options are the COOK Lounge and Blossoms, a collection of elegantly designed private dining rooms.
Spanning 64,500 square feet over three floors, Kerry Sports, the hotel’s sports club, includes a gym with studios for aerobics, spinning, Pilates, and yoga; a heated indoor swimming pool; an outdoor basketball court and tennis court; and roof garden with a jogging track. Other facilities include an Adventure Zone for kids, a spa with nine treatment suites, nearly 79,000 square feet of meeting and events space, business center, and office suites.
