Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will make its European debut on December 17 with Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, which was built in 1896 as the private home of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grand-nephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte. The hotelier spent four years carefully restoring the landmark.
Offering 81 rooms including 27 suites, the hotel retains its residential heritage thanks to the work of designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Accommodations include five duplex suites; the Suite Imperiale, which originally housed Prince Roland’s private rooms; and the penthouse Suite Panoramique, with over 1,076 square feet of outdoor deck. F&B options include La Bauhinia, an all-day-dining restaurant and lounge sporting a newly uncovered and restored glass cupola modeled after the Eiffel Tower. Meanwhile, the French gourmet restaurant L’Abeille and the city’s first authentic gourmet Cantonese restaurant, Shang Palace, will open in early 2011.
