SingaPlural-the inaugural Singapore Furniture Design Week held in conjunction with the International Furniture Fair Singapore 2012/29th ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS 2012), Deco Asia, and the Hospitality Show 2012 from March 9-12-has announced two new exhibits that will demonstrate the past, present, and future of furniture design in the city-state. The 48 Hours Showroom Makeover Challenge pairs retailers and design institutions as they re-create an existing retail showroom space.
Meanwhile, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) has invited 30 multi-disciplinary creative representatives in Singapore to participate in “30 Chairs LifeStories.” A piece of the Singapore “Kopitiam” chair will be provided to participants for their imaginative reinterpretation and expression of the object.
Other highlights of the show include Design *Scape, which transforms a congregated platform for local designers and talents to showcase their artworks, as well as the Design-Larger-Than-Life public installation showcasing sustainability.
