Sofitel has announced plans to manage its first hotel in Uruguay, Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco and Spa. The 116-room luxury property, opening in 2011, will occupy a restored historic building that housed the original Hotel Casino Carrasco. In addition to the casino and spa, the new beach-facing hotel will feature a 450-seat conference center; indoor and outdoor swimming pools; a fitness center; and a French restaurant named 1921, which refers to the date the original hotel was founded.
