Spanish hotel company Sol Meliá has changed its name to Meliá Hotels International to compete with large chains on a global scale. Meliá has defined a new strategic plan for the period of 2012 to 2014 with a focus on globalization, the development of its hotel management capacity, and its sustainability positioning.
To develop the new plan, the company has also adapted its internal structure by creating two new business areas: Asia Pacific and Real Estate, which will lead the growth in the region and maximize returns on company assets, respectively.
