The St. Regis brand makes its Caribbean debut with the 483-acre St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico. The project’s architect, HKS Hill Glazier Studio has created a stunning island oasis reflective of the area’s natural beauty (including its setting on a former coconut plantation) combined with luxurious elements.
The resort features 139 guestrooms, including 35 suites with private terraces offering ocean views and 25 private estate homes that have been designed as low rise plantation-style buildings. Accommodations include high-end residential-style interiors, custom-designed furniture, spacious marble bathrooms, and televisions integrated into bathroom mirrors.
Sustainability plays a significant role in the resort, whose “green team” comprises an ecologist, two agronomists, and a landscape architect who cultivate native and indigenous plants that protect the natural vegetation of the resort’s lowland coastal and forest areas. The resort is also home to the Gold Audubon Signature Sanctuary and a 2.4-acre plant nursery and garden that will provide fresh produce and herbs for use throughout the entire resort.
The 10,000-square foot Remede Spa features seven treatment rooms, relaxation areas, steam and sauna facilities, cold and hot plunge pools, and a fitness center. Meanwhile, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has developed signature restaurant Fern. Other amenities include a curated library, an oceanfront golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and 27,000 square feet of function space.
