Starwood Capital Group has announced the launch of two new hotel brands-luxury Baccarat Hotels & Resorts and eco-minded 1 Hotels & Resorts. Scheduled under SH Group, the initial five hotel openings will occur over the next 24 months.
The France-based Baccarat Hotels brand, originally created by King Louis XI for crystal-loving customers such as Czar Alexander the Great and Coco Chanel, will first unveil Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York in 2014 to coincide with the brand’s 250th anniversary. Future Baccarat locations are also slated for Dubai, and Rabat and Marrakech in Morocco.
Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York, located on 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue, will be set across from the Museum of Modern Art. A 50-story glass tower will encase the hotel’s 114 guest rooms, including 26 suites and 61 private residences ranging from one- to four-bedrooms, with four full-floors units and a five-bedroom penthouse. Surrounded by an outdoor “Tuileries” terrace, the hotel’s crystal bar will stand atop a base podium along with a spa, indoor pool, and fitness facility.
1 Hotels will offer farm-to-table dining and other ecologically responsible amenities. Built using LEED-certified building standards, including the adaptive re-use of raw materials, 1 Hotels plans to offer distinctive green services.
Opening in the first quarter of 2014, the 417-room1 Hotel & Residences South Beach will be housed in a renovated 1970’s building. The exterior and interior design will embrace nature, with water views from most rooms. It will feature a spa and fitness center, private beach amenities, four swimming pools, and several entertainment and dining options. Residential properties, offering 163 one-to-four-bedrooms and duplex homes, will also be available. 

1 Hotels has slated three additional properties for opening:1 Hotel Central Park, located on 58th Street and Sixth Avenue, opening in the spring of 2014; and, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, opening in the summer 2015. Additional 1 Hotel properties will open with the first international location set for Marrakech.
