Starwood Hotels and Resorts will add the King George Hotel in Athens to its Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts brand. Set to open later this year, the hotel will mark the brand’s eighth hotel in Greece.
Welcoming its first guests in 1936, the King Georgia Hotel features a Neoclassical façade in the historic Syntagma Square, situated between the Parliament and Voukourestiou Street, walking distance of the Acropolis.
The hotel’s 78 rooms and 24 suites offer views of the city and the Acropolis or overlook an inner courtyard. Also available is the two-bedroom Royal Penthouse suite-spanning 3,767 square feet across the ninth floor-with a private terrace, a private swimming pool, and a Jacuzzi.
The Tudor Hall-the King George Hotel’s signature restaurant on the seventh floor-will serve French cuisine alongside panoramic views of Athens. The hotel will also include a bar, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and a business center.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Lampsa Hellenic Hotels as we continue to grow our footprint in Greece, further strengthening Starwood’s position as the world’s leader in luxury hospitality,” says Roeland Vos, president of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. “The addition of King George to the Luxury Collection brand portfolio underlines the brand’s commitment of providing authentic travel experiences and exceptional service in this remarkable destination.”
