Novotel New York Times Square has unveiled an $85 million renovation. Led by New York-based Stonehill & Taylor in tandem with the John Hardy Group as project manager, the hotel now boasts room upgrades, SuperNova restaurant, and an outdoor terrace.
Stonehill & Taylor‘s design work starts at the West 52nd Street entrance and carries through to Supernova restaurant and outdoor terrace on the seventh floor. Inspired by the concepts of celebration and the passage of time, the lobby redesign alludes to pop culture and New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Computer-controlled hexagonal LED ceiling panels illuminate the lobby in different colors⎯⎯complementing changing music and sounds throughout the day.
Continuing the lobby’s views of the square, the hotel’s outdoor terrace features 5,700 square feet of space seven floors off the ground and a vista of Times Square. Colorful foliage and fire pits add to the view. Reflecting the location of Novotel New York in the heart of the Theater District, SuperNova restaurant will evoke a contemporary design with dramatic elements. The hotel’s partnership with Doughnuttery-a local doughnut cart⎯⎯will add to the experience.
Each of Novotel New York’s 480 guestrooms was refashioned in keeping with the hotel brand’s modern design theme. Anchored by the backlit headboard of a duvet-covered bed, rooms now include chic lighting, 46-inch flat screen TVs, a workspace with iPad docking stations, and soundproof windows that open and close. Ultramodern bathrooms are laid out with steel surfaces and glass showers.
