Carluccio’s, an UK-based Italian restaurant and market brand, has launched its first U.S. location in Washington, DC. Locally based Studio3877 is completing the design of the 7,300-square-foot space, which is opening this fall.
Firm principals David Shove-Brown and David Tracz have created a concept that will highlight the brand’s focus on fresh and authentic ingredients and customer service. To make the restaurant and retail market accessible to all, Studio3877 will lower the first floor of the building to meet the street’s curb outside. Once inside, an open floor plan with small, translucent dividers between the restaurant, café, and retail areas set the tone for the space.
The restaurant will be filled with comfortable wooden chairs and upholstered seating. Throughout the eatery, the project team will employ metallics, vivid hues, and wooden tile flooring to balance formal and casual dining. Other highlights will include unique light fixtures and artwork. Customers will also have the option to peruse aisles in the gourmet grocery, where a display table will serve as the focal point.
